The Arteries of New York City are two musician-photographers - Jamie Cameron & Alex Kozobolis.

Having been friends, and sharing a love and mutual respect for each others’ music and photography for years, Jamie and Alex first began to make music together in early 2019 - in Jamie’s studio space in Tottenham, North London.

Together, they began to lean towards unplanned, experimental music- letting instinct lead the way with as little post-editing (and overthinking) as possible- a welcome contrast to their individual creative processes as solo artists.

Field recordings and mobile phone memos drifted alongside unusual samples and one-take improvised piano performances as images quickly began to be conjured of an era that neither had experienced and that potentially had never quite existed.

Being fans of the work of iconic New York-based photographer Saul Leiter, Jamie and Alex approached his foundation and were subsequently granted licenses for the use of some of his mid-50s imagery as cover art.

The self-titled debut album came together primarily in the immediate build up to the global Covid-19 pandemic and will now see a worldwide digital release on the 18th March (with vinyl to follow) through the duo’s newly founded imprint - (light talking)
